| At Diamond
Academy, one of the things we aim to teach is just what
it means to be an athlete, just how special it is and things that
we can do to maybe someday make not only the sports world, but our
own world, a better place.
On average, only 5% of all the
kids playing youth baseball today will play organized baseball
after the age of 14, but 100% of them will participate in the
bigger league of life. Our Diamond
R.I.S.E. program stresses the significance of core
values that can be applied outside of baseball to help children
"play ball" with the best of them later in life.
Our core values are:
- Respect
for your team, your coaches, the game and yourself
- Integrity
doing what is right
- Sportsmanship
winning gracefully and losing with character
- Ethics
if it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't
The great thing about our core
values are that they are free! We don't teach a single
lesson without describing these values in detail, all while
following our structured
methodology.
Another area we hope to educate
students and parents about is steroid use in young athletes.
The CDC estimates that 6 percent of the high school population
have or are using steroids. That's one million kids. Worse, they
estimate that 11 to 12 percent of all high school junior and
senior males have used the stuff. Read
